Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Shved and a delegation of the Prosecutor General’s Office took part in a solemn ceremony of laying flowers and wreaths at the Victory Monument in Minsk as part of the “Belarus Remembers” campaign.
Among other participants in the event were Prosecutor of the City of Minsk Oleg Lavrukhin and Prosecutor of the Sovietsky District of Minsk Anton Zagorovsky.
At the event, Andrei Shved spoke with representatives of the media.
In particular, answering the question about the meaning of the Great Victory for him, the head of the supervisory agency noted: “For me and my family and friends, Victory Day is a joy, but also sorrow at the same time. Through the prism of the investigation of the criminal case on the genocide of the Belarusian people, one realizes how many people were killed, how many people are lying in the ground and how much more of the terrible truth about the atrocities committed by the fascists we will have to learn. Every family in the country has its own personal history... We have no right to betray our memory, otherwise all this will happen again.”
