Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Shved and Prosecutor General of the Republic of Cuba Yamila Peña Ojeda laid flowers at the Victory Monument on Victory Square in Minsk.
The ceremony took place within the framework of the visit of the delegation of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Cuba to Minsk.
Among other participants of the event were Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus Gennady Dysko, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Cuba Marcos Caraballo de la Rosa, Minsk City Prosecutor Oleg Lavrukhin, other prosecutors of both agencies, representatives of the diplomatic corps of Cuba, as well as students of the legal classes “Young Prosecutor” of the State Educational Institution “Gymnasium No. 38 of Minsk named after N.A.Shugaev” and the State Educational Institution “Senitskaya Secondary School No. 2” of Minsk district.
After laying flowers, those present observed a minute of silence in memory of the fallen soldiers and civilians – victims of genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War and the post-war period.
Within the framework of the event, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Cuba Yamila Peña Ojeda talked to the students of “Young Prosecutor” classes. She wished the children “to study diligently, to cherish the historical memory of the past of their people, to sincerely love the Motherland and always remain good people”.
At the end of the meeting, the head of the Cuban supervisory agency answered questions of the mass media. In particular, speaking about her stay in the Republic, Yamila Peña Ojeda emphasized that Belarus and Cuba are close in spirit and have been strengthening bilateral cooperation in political, economic, social and cultural spheres for many years. She noted the most trustful dialogue between the supervisory agencies of the two countries, which has been preserved and developed for more than 10 years. She expressed confidence in further strengthening of bilateral relations between the Prosecutor General’s Offices of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Cuba, including in the sphere of criminal justice.
